Do you want to Farm or Homestead?

Updated: Aug 2

Wonderful scenery. The country life. All the food I ever wanted. Working for myself. Eating the fruits of my own labor. Escaping society. Being self sufficient and not depending on anyone.

All of that is a fallacy. However,

.... whoever could make two ears of corn or two blades of grass to grow upon a spot of ground where only one grew before, would deserve better of mankind, and do more essential service to his country, than the whole race of politicians put together.
- Johnathan Swift, Gulliver's Travels

It’s not going to be easy. Farming and engaging with nature has some rules and they don't teach you those lessons in social studies, algebra or chemistry.

It’s akin to wading into the kiddie pool. Depending on your skills, grit, aptitude, attitude, or the coaches you have in your head and in your contact list, you have a 50/50 shot of survival in rookie farming or homesteading. You have to want it. You have to want it more than anything.

You have to identify gaps and fill them. You must achieve.

I’ll leave you with Webster’s explanation of achieve and achievement.

Achieve- To minish, achever. 1: to carry out successfully :accomplish (a gradual increase in production). 2:to get or attain as the result of exertion: reach (achieved a high degree of skill) (achieved greatness) : to attain a desired end or aim. : become successful
Achievement- 1: the act of achieving : accomplishment. 2: a result brought about by effort, a great heroic deed. 3: the quality and quantity of a students work.

You get to create your own future. Our planet needs you. Mankind needs you. Your neighbors, community and state needs you. Do you have the talent to win and achieve your dream?

In closing, I ask, “Who are the coaches and teachers encouraging you along?”

Talk soon.
