Amber Kennon

Amber spent her childhood roaming the hills and hollers of the Ozark mountains.  In the woods, she learned to love the sunshine on her skin and the wind in her hair.  Through her mother's homesteading experimentation, she learned by doing, to identify grow and nurture various creatures and plants.

Though her early life would be

considered "roughing it"

by every stretch of the imagination, it has given her

a very unique perspective of the world.

My Story

I had a diverse set of influences through involvement in school sports, FFA, Beta Club, Quizbowl, 4H and several jobs where I learned a lot about life and people.  Through mentorship from adults in my family, teachers, and my community, I realized that I could work hard, compete, and be successful with my efforts, even though in many ways, I was at a disadvantage.

In 2008, Austin & I welcomed our first daughter to the world.  When I held my newborn in my arms, I instantly knew that being a mother was the passion I hadn't found in college or in my career.  I began to work on our budget to see if me not returning to work was a feasible option.  I figured out our cost of living, the cost of daycare, commuting, the expenses for me to continue in my position at the University, and in my education.  I was thrilled when the income that I would bring home after taxes and expenses was pretty meager.   I shared my heart, and the numbers, with Austin and he was supportive.

I threw myself into my calling with enthusiasm and a growth mindset.  I found a wealth of information on how to better myself and our family in books and online.  I’m forever grateful for those who came before me and were generous enough to share their experiences.

Today,  I have been a wife, mother, homemaker, photographer, and farmer as my vocation for more than 14 years.  Working and learning with my family, preferably outdoors,  is my most treasured pastime.  I am so thankful for the opportunity to live the life that I feel God designed me for.

I have lived and learned as we built our family, our farm and a couple of  businesses.  I am passionate about the art of motherhood and the strong family unit.  I am passionate about learning, servant leadership, nutrition, growing food, and humble self reflection.  I am passionate about loving people and encouraging them to grow and learn.  I believe that each and every person has strengths to capitalize on and weaknesses that they have the power to improve upon.

I look forward to the opportunity to share wisdom I have gathered with others on their journey and in turn, learn from each person I come in contact with.
